Urban planning is a whimsical pastime of drawing flawless blueprints in city hall while forgetting the muddy alleys of reality. It hoists grand development slogans and treats token citizen input as a triumph of democracy. It masquerades as a civilizing ritual under the banner of national honor, even as it shatters another’s tranquility.
