Scientists and bureaucrats delight in this ritual of burying invisible waste deep underground, legitimizing what is essentially an out-of-sight landfill. Meanwhile, the planet grows suffocated, people continue their conveniences, and a new ally arises in ‘invisible pollution.’ Ironically, the day that the buried carbon stages its revenge may not be far off.
