A caregiver is a self-proclaimed cleric of devotion, stripping others of autonomy while boasting of sacrifice. They slog through sleepless days and gratitude deficits, binding themselves in chains of affection and duty. Losing sight of support’s thin line with surveillance, they sometimes become the greatest ordeal for families. Lauded as unpaid heroes, their only reward is the burnout called self-sacrifice.
