Becoming is a blend of veneration and forced alchemy that squeezes something out of the unseen void. Sometimes exalted as a divine act, sometimes derided as nothing more than a mundane procedure, it mocks the cruel truth. It promises infinite possibilities and infinite rollback in the same breath, seducing us into a bottomless swamp. Ultimately it departs having left only the self doubt of whether anything was ever truly generated, a master of ironic theatrics.

Change relentlessly assails the world, yet people pretend to be surprised while secretly clinging to the comfort of the past in a hypocritical ritual. It is hailed as a virtue, but in reality, it is an actor distributing grants of anxiety and chaos. Humans feign welcome for change, all the while hoping someone will pull the batteries out of the universal remote. Each time something new begins, it tragically memorializes the something old it left behind.

Demographic change is the social waltz of addition and subtraction orchestrated by states and markets playing with figures. Birth and death rates are sensationalized while immigration and declining birthrates become cards in political poker. Now graphs command more headlines than human lives. Everyone vies to be cast as either a statistic’s victim or beneficiary in this numerical carnival. What truly fluctuates is not the population but the supply of policy excuses and popularity forecasts.

Evolution is the grand saga of incessant bug fixes masquerading as self improvement. Oblivious genes perform their dance under the tyranny of selection pressure, producing new variants that appear happier on the surface. The triumphs forged through pain and randomness now resemble a social media marketing campaign to rack up likes. In the end the sole survivors are those who adapt, yet they tend to boast that they defined the rules themselves.
