#Circle

community

A community is a virtual abode that proclaims "connections" yet consists mostly of unread notifications and endless small talk. Members click "like" to fulfill mutual recognition in the name of solidarity, even as they remain strangers in real life. It is a modern salon of loneliness, wrapped in idealistic slogans and riddled with ironic gaps between theory and practice. Once a venue for mutual aid, it has morphed into a stage for exhibitionism. Here, the human craving for approval often overshadows genuine belonging.

friendship circle

A friendship circle is a collective venture to mutual-check each other's social media approval, concealing anxiety behind forced smiles. It functions as a digital banquet hall where message threads flow without end and the only membership requirement is perpetual online presence. Organizers are unknowingly crowned overpriced party planners, while absentees receive chilly reactions as proof of loyalty. Praised for its 'solidarity', it often operates on a razor's edge between camaraderie and surveillance.

peer group

A peer group is a ritual where like-minded individuals gather to lose their individuality in miraculous unison, experiencing a comforting yet suffocating homogeneity. Its specialty is collective performance: if one person laughs, everyone laughs; if one frowns, everyone frowns. It labels others’ opinions as "normal" and its own thoughts as “air,” recycling them ad infinitum. It’s perfect for hiding insecurities, yet boasts an unyielding fragility against any discordant note. Once a spark is struck, countless echoing sympathizers swarm, turning a solitary voice into a manufactured chorus.

story circle

A story circle is a ring that simultaneously supplies empathy and self-satisfaction. Participants rewrite their own lives into scripts, only to find themselves dancing to those very scripts. The more one seeks tales, the further one drifts from reality, yet no one can escape this enchantment. By forming a circle, people feel a sense of connection while imposing new boundaries upon themselves—a psychological trap. In the end, the comfort gained from shared storytelling transforms into the most potent addiction.
