Consumer protection is hailed as a shield for individuals thrown into the market's chaos, yet in practice it exacts time and effort from consumers through a labyrinth of paperwork and reviews. While legal texts grandly proclaim rights, their enforcement timidly cowers in the shadows of political maneuvering and bureaucratic procedures. It exists to expose and condemn corporate marketing claims, yet its complexity seems designed to test the consumer itself. Supposedly a system with on-off switches, what it really demands is consumers' patience and significant cost. Only the legislature shows enthusiasm; its actual power remains a pitiful hero preyed upon by negotiations.
