A sound engineer is a professional dungeon master waging war on tangled cables through the labyrinth of audio. On stages and in studios, they endure storms of decibels while obsessively hunting the perfect mix. Convinced that a stray hiss could collapse the world, they tweak each dial with near-unconscious precision. When audiences cheer, they are in fact performing a sacred unseen ritual behind the console. Yet their labors go largely unnoticed, and when the encore ends, they disappear back into the shadows as unsung artisans.
