“Holiest of holies” is the superlative adjective reserved for altars that no one actually dares to approach. Those who chant its name profess awe while mechanically fulfilling their ritual duties. The more something is proclaimed sacred, the more its substance dissolves into ambiguity, immobilizing real action. Promised immortality, the highest sanctity often gathers dust and drifts into oblivion. The act of sacred veneration serves perfectly to distract from genuine quests for truth.

Holiness is an exclusive label people claim only to keep others at arm’s length. The loudest voices insist on its sanctity while the truly devout suffer in silence. At the altar, everyone plays pious, but in daily life they quickly bow to trivial desires. Holiness exists less to protect than to serve as an ever-present temptation to violate it.
