Discernment is hailed as a noble endeavor to separate realities, yet ultimately serves as a magic incantation for self‐satisfaction. People say they find reassurance in distinctions, but true comfort lies not in the differences themselves, but in the power to wield them. Ironically, drawing too many lines under the banner of discernment shrinks one’s perspective, a fact conveniently overlooked. In the end, the real truth of discernment is a mirror paradox: the one drawing the boundary is the boundary itself.

Discernment of spirits is a pretextual spear against unseen foes, or more accurately, an excuse factory masquerading as divine insight. It equips saints and swindlers alike with the power to instantly rewrite moral codes. Each time one claims evil spirits as the culprit, guilt morphs into sanctity. Sometimes, merely declaring “It’s demon sabotage!” provides a flawless escape from inconvenience. Ultimately, the only true requirement is unwavering belief in your own convenience.
