Loneliness is the art of staging a one-person show of unheeded troubles in the theater of the mind. Once on stage, no applause echoes through the timelines of social networks. Sometimes one seeks consolation in the whisper of one’s own shadow, only to be met with deepening silence. Some call it ‘inner relaxation,’ though it’s chiefly an act of rending one’s own chest. It is, in fact, a ceremony of toasting champagne in an empty banquet hall.
