Under the guise of repaying favors, they accrue debts of gratitude like shares in a future capital market. Disguised devotion masks a relentless pursuit of new clients and position maintenance in the grand engineering of influence.

The mentor-mentee relationship is a pact where one drags the cart of knowledge while the other never drops the whip of advice. The mentee sacrifices endless personal time under the guise of growth, while the mentor interjects endlessly under the guise of critique. Celebrated as a noble tale, it is in fact a farce of labor exploitation and critique waste. Born between the youth craving the senior’s endorsement and the senior craving the youth’s labor, it is a sweetly dependent bind. Ultimately, neither party truly seeks independence—only the power play between them.
