Care ethics is the theory that proclaims compassion for others while conveniently ignoring power structures. Under the banner of love and concern, it disperses responsibility and grants permission to cry 'It’s the system!' when solutions fail. Practitioners either blame themselves or exhaust the cared-for with excessive involvement. Admired as the study that justifies emotional labor, it always fails at measuring impact. Its eloquent rhetoric serves as a magic show to conceal the muddy trenches of reality.

Ethics is the convenient magic by which groups justify their actions while anxiously reading the room. It is most loudly proclaimed where conflicts of interest abound, yet routinely shelved when inconvenient. Moral superiority abhors cost and often stops at minimal compliance. It serves well for the sermonizer, but harsh reality awaits the practitioners. Ultimately ethics is no more than a signboard adorning the loudest logic.

Utilitarianism is the artisan craft of weighing every action on the scale of happiness. It quantifies others’ suffering and fits it neatly into a profit-maximization ledger. Beneath the banner of justice, a cold calculus quietly unfolds. Individuals sacrificed for the ideal are logged as “happiness investments,” sometimes prompting merciless judgments. Example: lauding overtime as virtue while quietly hacking away at pay for maximal gain.
