It is presented as worthy of public discourse, yet the echoes of its answers always ring solely within one’s own mind. Philosophers adorn it with grandiloquent rhetoric, faiths promise salvation in its name, and audiences anticipate some reward. Ultimately, what ultimate concern seeks is little more than the bait of approval and reassurance. It is nothing more than one’s own shadow dancing before a mirror.
