#Peace

bedroom

A bedroom is a temporary asylum from the daily battles, yet it doubles as an archive of unresolved laundry and mysterious stains. It is the sanctuary where one feels most vulnerable, though in truth it is a battleground ravaged by smartphone notifications and the neighbor’s snoring. Close the door in search of peace, and you are confronted by the mattress’s firmness and the duvet’s weight—two contradictions demanding a choice. It is the epitome of a pseudo-hideaway, where ideal rest and real regrets coexist.

inner peace

Inner peace is the performance of staring down your anxieties with a poker face while modern chaos plays in the background. It doubles as earplugs in a crowd, a self-hypnosis ritual of feigned silence that leaves stress intact. Beneath meditation and mantras lies the constant confrontation with deadlines and notification badges. Valued more as a handy escape hatch than genuine serenity, it is a popular placebo for the overworked mind. Inner peace is an illusion sold as self-acceptance, packaged with a mask that never comes off.

Just Peace

Just Peace is a stagecraft that celebrates a ceasefire as a noble feast while spoils are quietly divvied up behind the curtains. Everyone preaches ideals, yet only the victor’s justice receives applause in the front row. Ironically, the flames of conflict may be extinguished, but the embers of resentment remain eternal. Idealists reach for a theatrical plate labeled ‘peace’ set on a bureaucrat’s desk. And that plate is usually garnished with the silent tears of the imprisoned.

peacekeeping

Peacekeeping is the ceremonial festival in which uniformed third parties roam battlefields silenced by gunfire, declaring "Peace achieved!". Sometimes it stirs the conscience of the international community, and other times it props up diplomatic alibis. Ostensibly ceasefire watchers, in reality they are traveling verifiers of goodwill.

Quaker meeting

A Quaker meeting is a gathering that officially sanctions a silence competition in a meetinghouse. Participants may utter nothing, yet are free to deliver soliloquies within their minds. The moment someone finally speaks, their words become the loftiest sermon, before the assembly lapses back into silent ritual. The longer the silence, the deeper one’s piety is measured, giving the affair the air of a dry spiritual sport. And although only those who remain mute until the end are deemed closer to true insight, the core purpose is to remain silent, embodying a profound self-contradiction.

reconciliation

Reconciliation is the high art of two wills jointly nursing resentment while pretending to hold hands in peace. The ledger of past hurts remains open, and though grievances still huddle like coins stuck in an emotional vending machine, both parties stretch out their hands with touching solemnity. This handshake often amounts to little more than a contract of polite hypocrisy. It is sometimes called the calm before a genuine storm.

serenity

Serenity is the perfect stage set that conceals unwanted external noise while amplifying one’s internal anxieties. The silence that visits the mind masquerades as peace yet often exposes whispers from within. Widely sought through meditation or yoga, it comes with the side effect of rendering one intolerant even of a neighbor’s refrigerator hum. The more one flees society’s clamor, the more serenity paradoxically forces a confrontation with oneself, laying bare its true nature.

Shalom

Shalom is the ceremonial word that preaches peace and harmony while casually overseeing the conflagration of conflicts with irresponsible indifference. By feigning a prayer for peace, it deflects attention from the essence of disputes and legitimizes inaction like a universal mantra. Its ancient sacred resonance has been debased into a mundane greeting, shedding all weight of its meaning in the modern era. It blurs the line between prayer and polite formula, subtly concealing the anxiety and powerlessness lurking in the human heart. As a wordplay, it mocks those who seek depth, serving as a satirical tool to veil uncomfortable truths.

use of force

Use of force is the act of discarding reason and letting fists speak beyond the reach of diplomacy. While peace is lauded, the true resolution of conflict often depends on hypocrisy’s mace. It masquerades as a civilizing ritual under the banner of national honor, even as it shatters another’s tranquility. Once bathed in procedures and treaties, violence graduates into polite society’s parlance. It reveals the mirrored truth that one party’s security stands upon another’s crushed hopes.
