We pride ourselves on planning yet perpetually rescue our ambitions with a hail of random bullets labeled “luck.” We frame happy accidents as destiny to comfort our narrative vanity. Even the loftiest scientific breakthroughs ride the tide of chaos more than the steely keel of reason. Ultimately, it proves that the stray arrow, not the aimed one, writes history’s most astonishing plot twists.
