It is nothing if not a mirror reflecting our desires and insecurities under the guise of faith.

Psychedelic mysticism is a parody of self-help seminars that promises a luxurious hallucinatory journey called “enlightenment.” It claims to probe the depths of the soul, yet delivers a flood of colors and a dance of confusion that slyly extracts your grip on reality. The cosmic truths spoken in lofty terms often turn out to be just one layer of a nesting doll, complete with the irony of safekeeping your introspection inside an illusion. The world it conjures, where bliss and anxiety hold hands in bizarre harmony, is more accurately described as a riot of color than a genuine mystery.

Psytrance is an electronic mystical music that abandons consciousness to an ocean of endless looping beats, treating perpetual dancing as a form of salvation. It alternates between euphoria and exhaustion, leaving only hallucinatory traces of fulfillment imprinted in the mind upon awakening. What lasts for hours becomes less music and more a ritualistic dissolution of the self. By the time one steps down from the stage, both ego and sense of reality have been appropriately peeled away.
