Capital punishment is a macabre ceremony in which the state, as judge and executioner, stages a final act of justice in blood. There are no heroes on stage, yet the audience applauds for a catharsis free of remorse. The condemned is urged to reflect deeply while society breathes a sigh of relief at a clean resolution. It is the glorious moment where the achievement of justice and the endorsement of violence clasp hands upon a single verdict. Its proclaimed effect is deterrence, yet what remains etched in collective memory is not the verdict but the stark cruelty of death.

The death penalty is society’s most theatrical final act to resolve wrongdoing, doubling as both a deterrent and a spectacle. The state demands blood in the name of justice while conveniently funding the show with taxpayers’ money. Executioners proclaim themselves guardians of the law, turning convicts into unwitting performers in a macabre entertainment. It magnifies the contrast between guilt and punishment, all while diverting attention from deeper societal failures. In the end, what remains is the bitter aftertaste of so-called justice.

Hell is a kind of social club where eternal suffering is the main attraction. Its residents enjoy daily exchanges of regret and despair. The air is thick with the scent of fire, brimstone, and endless paperwork. No wish is ever granted, and mistakes are reproduced forever. The bus to Heaven is perpetually running late.

Incarceration is the ritual by which wielders of law and order confiscate the greatest luxury—human freedom—and sequester people behind steel bars and concrete walls. Ostensibly a place for penitent reflection, it is in truth a private play where countless walls swallow cries and hide the spectacle from prying eyes. Society proclaims safety while drowning in the sweet wine of justice, using prisoners' torment as its cloak. The touted "crime reduction" in cold statistics is nothing more than transforming individuals into numbers for unambiguous control.

Solitary confinement is the little cell provided by the state to sever an individual from all connections, using silence and solitude to interrogate the inner voice. In it, all sound except the walls is cut off, bestowing freedom to think while robbing the option called exit. Noble-sounding reasons such as self-reflection or rehabilitation are proclaimed, but in truth it is nothing more than a torture device waiting to shred the mind. The prisoner finds even their own shadow a target of surveillance, ending up forced to make themselves their only companion. Claimed as safety, it is in fact a cage of reason justifying the most insidious punishment.
