SMART goal
A SMART goal is a magical incantation proclaimed to save humanity from the sin of ambiguity. If a goal is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound, then success is supposedly guaranteed... supposedly. In truth, its purpose is to serve as the boss' banner when herding progress and shifting blame onto subordinates. Chanting a SMART goal transforms a meeting room into a shrine of optimism, imprisoning all doubts beneath the cross of a deadline. Meanwhile, the complexities and uncertainties of execution are instantly sanctified by rigid charts and graphs or simply ignored.
