sort

Sort is the ritual of driving out the demon of disorder by mechanically rearranging data. By repeatedly performing primitive comparisons, it pursues the madness of an endless illusion of perfect order. Its implementation complexity often tests the developer's patience and vanity, inviting bugs disguised as traps. The more one seeks an optimal solution, the blurrier the line becomes between efficiency and fairness, ultimately forcing reliance on brute resets. It is a cruel technology that leaves us praying to the deity called algorithm.

Spark

A spark is a fleeting firefly that flits through an engineer’s mind, instantly evaporating upon contact with the reality of the codebase. It is often unleashed without proper validation, summoning the firefighting rituals known as code reviews. It paints a momentary display of fireworks in the sky of ideas, only to be snuffed out by the cold calculations of cost. It is overconsumed as an excuse for new features, quietly becoming the breeding ground for scope creep. Countless prototype ghosts offer their remnants to the altar of the CI/CD pipeline. When functioning normally, no one notices; when it fails, it becomes the collective evidence of “Spark not working.” In the corner of a developer’s desk, it continues to emit dry embers of unimplemented hopes, a digital illusionist.

tracing

Tracing is the ultimate voyeurism performed in the name of chasing bugs, stripping the system's innards bare and leaving behind heaps of log detritus. While pretending to meticulously follow the data's footprints, it lures developers into a labyrinth of their own creation. The answers they seek always lie hidden in the system's depths, forcing them to drown in logs and laugh at the void. It masquerades as a progress demonstration, yet ultimately unravels into a self-affirming ritual of asking, "It worked, right?"

visual effects

Visual effects are the magic scam that makes the impossible appear possible on screen, while only the production team endures the true toil behind the curtain. It breathes life into explosions and monsters, yet no one cares about the artists cutting and pasting masks in tears behind the scenes. As people drown in the splendor of the rendered spectacle, they forget in an instant what was real and what was composited. A factory that sells fleeting illusions. That is visual effects.
