Solidarity is the ritual of conspiracy wearing the beautiful mask of becoming another's shield to conceal one's own wounds. It is often proclaimed with lofty rhetoric, yet the weight of action is deferred onto others as a vain crown of appearances. While adorned in the banner of justice, it serves as the most irresponsible tool of self-preservation. Those gathered under the ideal's flag will reveal the ultimate betrayal precisely when their unity is most needed.

Unity is a grand symphony that mercilessly levels diverse opinions into white noise. It serves as an all-purpose phrase to dodge the hassle of debate and, at times, a disguise for dictators. Used as a catchphrase, it fools people into thinking that showing up equals goodwill. In the name of goal attainment, it crushes diversity and hoists a single-truth myth. Ultimately, nothing changes: everyone ends up worshiping the same portrait.

Unity is the magic word that gathers disparate parts into one and conveniently hides contradictions. Proclaim order and criticism vanishes, choices evaporate. Yet beneath the veneer lies a cemetery of silenced diversity. As an ideal it glows; in practice it is a heavy lid suppressing all stray notes.
