Urban planning is the revolutionary game of mapping a labyrinth of interests into gray meeting rooms. It consists of sketching sprawling developments on paper while euphemistically labelling unwanted highrises as benevolent progress. Despite purportedly listening to residents, it often becomes a machine that grows projects wildly while failing to realize anyone’s wishes. Behind slogans promising livability improvements lurk perpetual delays and budget overruns. In theory it charts the future of cities; in practice it manufactures a multitude of urban lost souls.
