Aseity is the spirit of loudly proclaiming you can do everything yourself, yet flaunting the right to refuse help when push comes to shove. It celebrates freedom from societal chains while being oblivious to the efforts and kindness of others. Under the banner of individualism, it serves as a carte blanche to involve others without taking responsibility, creating isolation and dependency simultaneously. It is the dissonant dance of self-reliance and reliance hand in hand.

Benevolence is the finest mask hiding one’s indifference behind a gesture of salvation. It often buys others’ confessions and exchanges them for the currency of self-satisfaction. Behind the act of giving lurks a shadow called calculation, and sometimes a noble deed is the most cunning form of self-soothing. The sentiment of caring for others sounds lofty, yet it is merely an organ concerto of self-esteem. The purest benevolence most skillfully conceals its tainted motives.

Brahmacharya is a sport of locking the little demon called desire in a cage. The noble state claimed at the end of defeating one’s instincts usually arrives as hunger and sleepless nights. It refers to the sacred armor of self-satisfaction that elegantly deflects others' doubts. In reality, it is nothing more than an expensive ornament to maintain the illusion of infallibility.

Fairness is the ritual of promising equal treatment while privately bestowing favors on the loudest voices. It masquerades behind logic and statistics, but at heart it is a tug-of-war for power. In theory everyone benefits equally, yet in practice distributions hinge on the benevolence of the distributors. Everyone swears by its sanctity, even as they rewrite its rulebook to suit their whims.

Faithfulness is the mask of virtue that binds one ever tighter to beliefs and expectations. The more steadfast the vow, the more its bearer is expected to fulfill it without reward. Each act of loyalty treads unfreedom under the guise of devotion. In its shadow thrives a silent grudge against the very pledge it upholds.
