An eye is a dubious little device that gathers light and darkness from the outside world and transmits uncertain images into the labyrinth of the brain. Vision is supposed to reflect truth, yet often filters reality through biases and preconceptions. This troublesome sentinel sheds tears of protest over minute specks of dust and trembles at the safest darkness. Overuse yields fatigue and blur; neglect invites the loss of all sights, a dilemma performed with exquisite irony. Ultimately, the real control of the eye resides in our fear of the realities we dare not face.

It is usually set forth with no deadlines or accountability, gathering dust on a whiteboard in a meeting room. The more one talks about the future, the more current issues are shelved in a form of democratic violence. After grandiose rhetoric, everyone quietly returns to mundane tasks like seeking investor approval, a scene as human as it is absurd.

A vision is like a sorcery that makes the present invisible simply by talking about the distant future. The more glamorously it is adorned in slide decks, the further its chances of realization quietly drift away. There is always an exaggerated goal at the end of the presentation, complete with a scapegoat excuse when it inevitably fails. The more one speaks of ideals, the more people feel safe to postpone action. The power to paint dreams is, after all, the perfect tool for avoiding reality.

A vision is a magical incantation that stylizes corporate futures. It gains value the more CEOs utter it over fine dining. Preferring poster appeal to concrete plans, it becomes an invisible billboard during execution. The more ideals are proclaimed, the more reality fades, replaced by repeated slogans. In the end, only a grandiose concept remains, remembered by no one.
