It is a magic show that has them climbing a mountain of assignments from dawn till dusk, tricking exhaustion into feeling like success. Trainees chant “push my limits” while secretly fearing the watchful eyes of managers, happily playing at evolution. In the end, they gain a bullet point for their resume and a muscle ache of emptiness rather than actual strength.

The communication course is a business carnival that proclaims respect for others while distributing manuals for self-promotion. It claims to sharpen listening skills, yet no one truly listens and instead mass-produces verbose monologists. Participants practice empathy training, only to spend their time measuring interpersonal distances rather than closing them. It promises to strengthen teamwork, but ultimately teaches the art of crafting reports for superiors. Graduates then brandish their “Communication Course Certified” badges as silent intimidation tools.

A cooking class is a modern dojang where the seduction of the frying pan draws in beginners. While aspiring for Instagram fame, novices struggle daily with burnt pans and missing measuring spoons. Professional instructors demonstrate recipes with ease, yet behind the scenes the tasting victims endure culinary tragedies. Participants bring enthusiasm, but produce uneven, barely photogenic dishes. Under the guise of self-expression and collaboration, a cooking class is an ironically social arena of thrills and laughter.

A social exercise that gathers individuals under the pretext of peering into each other’s hearts, only to trade traumas and produce forced outputs. Extracting true feelings isn’t the goal; the real aim is to generate deliverables satisfying management. Everyone chants “honest feedback” yet ends up smiling politely to read the air. Rather than deep understanding, participants reaffirm each other’s insensitivity and fall into self-loathing. The lack of any persuasive power behind the claim that this workshop builds “bonds” is the true reality.

Team building is the theater of coaxing inmates in the prison called organization to play nice. A truth circle is a ceremonial workshop where strangers are coerced to confess private thoughts under the guise of authenticity. Attendees spill their secrets only to end up inexplicably drained. It’s a spiral of declared transparency and concealed tension masquerading as team bonding. Ostensibly a trust-building exercise, it actually offers the thrill of naively taking others at their word. The grand finale is a resigned smile and the realization that hardly anything has changed.

Value discussion is a ceremony held in meeting rooms to ostensibly explore each other’s values while covertly validating one’s own convenience. Participants lend ears but activate noise-cancelling shields the moment it gets inconvenient. Diversity is celebrated only to be funneled through the homogenizing filter of corporate slogans. Behold the fluttering of the butterfly of pretense.
