career

Silhouettes of people bewildered in front of a massive career plan chart
Drawn into the labyrinth called career, where only the blueprint stretches endlessly.
Money & Work

Description

A career is the accumulation of footprints that were supposed to be of one’s own choosing, only to find oneself ensnared by others’ expectations and the pitfalls of resume screening. It is also the farcical pilgrimage toward the summit of a tower swaying on the scales of evaluation, constantly lifted up and dropped. In the end, one realizes that the only thing denser than the journey’s start is the rush-hour crowd on the commute.

Definitions

  • A social album of human relations, showcasing one’s own CV as if it were someone else’s achievements.
  • A document marathon that piles up endless submissions in the name of climbing the mountain of evaluations.
  • A mental cradle roller coaster teetering between success and failure.
  • An attempt to mistake a string of numbers on a resume for the true worth of a life.
  • A tightrope act claiming to balance stability and challenge, but grasping at neither.
  • A desert-crossing game with no destination, called a career plan.
  • A tale of wandering through the maze of appraisal chasing the mirage of self-actualization.
  • A satirical high-score game where only the business card file grows while exchanging cards incessantly.
  • A human-flavored slide leaving you stunned at the summit called promotion.
  • A perpetual ceremony exhausting participants with a relay of meeting invitations disguised as growth opportunities.
